THE GOOD
- Himself retired and we get to spend every day together after his commuting to Sydney for over two years
- Two came home from overseas
- I rediscovered my love of sewing and knitting and other things crafty
- I have some amazing friends and am blessed to have them in my life
- TWO AND MADS ARE ENGAGED!!!!
- All my kids are happy, healthy and doing well
- I love where we live. (As I write this a kid on a unicycle just went past on the bike path and it's been lovely seeing all the kids (big and little) out on their shiny new Christmas presents. The bird life is flourishing and there is a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility.)
- Centrelink have given me a 6 month medical exemption from looking for work and will do more to help me find work (at least that's what they said!!)
- The boys and girls planned a fabulous surprise ... we were expecting Two and Mads late on Christmas Eve (and maybe not even then) but they arrived on Monday and all 3 boys + 2 of the girls rocked up for the dinner One and Ebs had invited themselves for!
THE BAD
- See first dot point above!
- Dad died in April
- I really miss my parents and am so surprised at this. I am getting a tad pissed off with constantly finding myself in tears in front of strangers as I have to explain my circumstances (see: Centrelink)
- The inevitable "firsts" without them.
- The ongoing saga of settling their estates and dealing with accountants and the Tax Office (they did say it should be settled by Christmas ... they just didn't say which one!)
- The in-laws are not well. They will not talk to us about their issues (I am the evil daughter who put her parents into a nursing home!) I see some trying times ahead for Himself and his brothers ... but more Himself as elder brother is useless and younger brother lives in the country.
THE UGLY
- Our lifestyle ... too much alcohol, too much crappy food, too large portion sizes, too little exercise, too many late nights/late mornings.
- I weigh the same as I have done in the past at my heaviest but, worse still, I am actually bigger than I have ever ever ever been. Clothes that should fit (according to the scales) don't.
- I have problems with knee pain (both knees), shoulder pain, back pain, feet pain and a general feeling of blahness. I miss my health.
*****************
I have a plan to address the ugly and Himself is 100% on board which is both surprising and encouraging.
Starting on Wednesday (still technically 2014 but hey ...) we are starting on Lite'n'Easy. This is after seeing the legal assistant at our solicitors on a regular basis (see "settling parents' affairs") and watching her lose weight and gain awesomeness using Lite'n'Easy as well as getting good reviews from other close friends. Himself and I both agreed we need to do something rather radical to shake things up. This way we will not have to buy anything other than milk for cereal so we will not have temptation in the cupboards/fridge ... even 'healthy' food is bad for you if you eat too much of it. We are not considering this as a forever plan but as a kick start to help us break bad habits and show us what we SHOULD be eating. Once we get a handle on that we will wean ourselves back into the real world.
I plan to post on a regular basis showing the food, us and the results. I'm looking forward to it. It will be a bumpy ride but we are both excited about it and it will be fun to do this together.
%%%%%%%%
Tomorrow is our family Christmas. We have caught up with the boys and girls over the past week but this will be the first time we can all be together to exchange gifts and just be 'us'.
